The AMD 7900X is an excellent CPU

I opted for the AMD 7900X for my new build because it was cheaper than the 9700X at the time, and according to a TechPowerUp review, it would be 13% faster in multi-threaded applications.

I’ve paired it with an X870 motherboard and Be Quiet! CPU Cooler, and I’ve had no heat or stability issues with this combo. Also, as this processor only has high-performance cores (compared to my previous Intel i5’s mix of P & E cores), this has fixed a few niggling issues I was experiencing in Windows.

I game at 4K, so I didn’t think I would notice any difference with this CPU. However, in MS Flight SIM and The Witcher 3, my FPS has increased by an average of 10 to 15%, and I’ve noted a similar uplift in other games. This could also be due to the switch to DDR5 RAM.

All-in-all, my PC feels snappier and faster in use, and I’m glad that I made the move from Intel to AMD, especially after some of the recent, highly publicised issues with Intel chips.
